FOX CROSSING STRINGBAND BIO
Fox Crossing Stringband is an all-female bluegrass group from Chicago, Illinois that has been winning hearts with their beautiful harmonies, original songwriting, and entertaining stage presence ever since forming in November 2016.
Their sound stacks strong vocal harmony atop six bluegrass instruments, with Beth Earl on upright bass, Allison Branch on guitar, and Despina Pafralides switching between fiddle and mandolin alongside Cassie Wright also switching between dobro and banjo.
In 2019, they released their debut album 'Box of Memories' blending both original songwriting and bringing bluegrass stylings to popular tunes. They are excited to be releasing their second full-length studio album “Bluegrass on My Mind“ in September 2022, with an album release show set for City Winery Chicago on September 25th, 2022
ABOUT THE ALBUM “BLUEGRASS ON MY MIND”
Fox Crossing Stringband's second full-length studio album, 'Bluegrass on My Mind' dives deep with rich harmonies across seven original tunes and six favorites by legendary writers that the band loves to showcase their foxy renditions.
The foxes released their first album, "Box of Memories" in 2019, and they are excited to share how they've grown and developed their 'high lonesome' sound with their second record. 'Bluegrass on My Mind' original tunes reflecting on loss, strength, perseverance, and even a bit sass they have garnered across their years together.
Fox Crossing Stringband is based out of Chicago, IL, where in 2016, Despina Pafralides championed the idea for an all-female bluegrass band to her friend, Allison Branch. whom she played with in a local country band. They connected with Cassie Wright a banjo and dobro player to provide a true bluegrass sound, and like many modern-day pairings took to the internet in order to find their local match in Beth Earl on upright bass.
The four-piece has not left each others sides since. Traveling the midwest playing shows and festivals, the power of an all-female group has been their pride. They seek to inspire and encourage others to continue exploring music and push for greater inclusion in the bluegrass genre.
